2017 Year in Review
I think when we think of a whole year, we only think of the insanely good or insanely bad moments. I had planned to do this post, and was searching through my photos to see what kind of stuff I wanted to write about. To be honest, there were so many things I straight up forgot about that I had pictures to remind me.
On a global scale, 2017 was nowhere near the best. But it had a lot of small things that were really good. I think for a lot of people, myself included, it was a transitional year. 2017 is right on the curve of some major change, and I think that’s okay.
My year definitely had some good and bad, and some transitional moments.
I took a lot of pictures of myself
I won’t say “selfies” per se, mostly because some of these photos were taken on a tripod with a remote. Most of the time, I am my own photographer, and it results in my camera roll being full of self portraits. Essential when you’re a blogger, yes? It’s funny when you look at pictures of yourself you don’t really notice change, until you see a span of time. For me, I hadn’t realized how long my hair had gotten in 2017. I had been trying to grow it out from a long bob from 2015, and now it’s about halfway down my back. A noted achievement of its own, I think.
I went a lot of places (old and new)
I went a lot of places this year I either hadn’t been in some time, or for the first time. Being a media student means most of our course work is reporting on different places around town. I went several places I had never been, and it was exciting to see them for the first time. I also went new places with friends, and just got out into the world. For the first time this September, I visited Michigan for a wedding. It’s important to take note of the things around you, and sometimes you find things aren’t so bad at all.
I spent a lot of time with friends (old and new)
This was a big year for a lot of my friends. There were many engagement announcements, many weddings, many graduations, and many announcements of new jobs. It was exciting for us all, and exciting to be with friends as they made some major changes in their own lives. I also got to spend a lot of time this year with friends. My university friends and I got out to do stuff more, we took more spontaneous trips to do things around town, and over all we got to cherish our time together before we part ways this spring. I also got to spend some quality time with friends in my hometown, and for the first time since maybe our high school graduation (2014) we were all at the same table!
I started this blog
Maybe you were wondering if I’d get to this, so here it is! After months and months of consideration, I committed to starting this blog in June. I honestly love blogging so much, and it gives me the freedom to curate my own hobbies and skills in a way I really like. It’s so nice having blogposts to remind me of the good, and the details of the days I chose to share. I also love having a place where I can share my love for beauty products with others. Since I’ve started my blog, I’ve gotten so many friends asking me for lip color recommendations and other makeup recommendations, and it makes my beauty junkie heart so happy. I also love sharing beauty tips with all of you, and I’m glad to do it for the blog as well! I’m so happy with this blog so far, and I can’t wait to bring content to you in 2018!
What are you looking forward to in 2018?
There’s going to be a lot going on! I’m rebooting my fitness journey in January, so keep your eyes open for that on the blog! In February I’ll be turning 22, so I’ll patiently wait to cue the Taylor Swift quotes for then! In May I’ll be graduating with my bachelor’s degree from my university! After that, I’m still working on it! Probably in the coming year you can expect many exciting posts with updates. I’m excited, and I can’t wait to see what this new year has for me!
