Best of Beauty 2017

It’s been a big year for beauty as the beauty community continues to grow and expand. A lot of new brands hit the market this year, a lot of new trends hit the community, and my favorite, many new dupes hit the market.

It was a year of collabs and a year of reaching out of the comfort zone in the beauty community. Everyone has their personal beauty favorites, and here are mine from this year! I’ve tried my best to stick with products that were released this year, but some are also products that were new to me this year.

L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara in Blackest Black

You had to know this one was coming. It was in my favorites a couple months back, and it’s still my favorite mascara. I switched from the Maybelline Mega Plush mascara to this after all the talk about it. It truly gives length and volume to my lashes! I’ve also has several people tell me that it almost looks like I’m wearing false lashes when I wear it. It’s good for people who like noticeable lashes. This mascara is a little heavy for people looking for a natural look, but if you’re into more than that I highly recommend! It also washes off cleanly, which makes me love it even more.

NYX HD Photogenic Concealer in Fair

The concealer that has pulled through for me! This was in my August¬†favorites. It definitely blurs out imperfections and redness in my natural skin tone. (It’s also great for concealing your lack of sleep!) This concealer has had mixed reviews across the board, but I feel like as long as I set it, it stays in place. The color also matches me well. I’ve tried almost all of the NYX concealers, and in my opinion this one is the best.

Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit in Rebel Rose

I’ve tried so many of the drug store liquid lipsticks, and none of them quite compare to this. I know many beauty bloggers have talked about these, but the formula is surprisingly durable for a $5 lipstick. This is pretty much opaque in one coat or two, and the doe foot applicator makes it easy to apply. I usually wear it with a lipliner, but it works fine without. Even through eating and drinking it managed to stay on and not dry out the lips. I also love this dusty rose color!

E.L.F Perfect Finish High Definition Setting Powder

This has become a staple in my makeup bag this year. This was in my November Favorites, and it’s here to stay! After surviving the hottest summer in Arizona, setting powder has become essential to keeping my liquid foundation in place. I like this compact because it easily fits in my purse. Also for $6, I think it about gets the job done. It has a silky finish, which helps powder bronzers and blushes blend in as well.

Lorac Pro Beauty and the Beast Eyeshadow Palette

One of my favorite palettes of the year! This summer I did a full review with swatches of this palette, and I toyed with putting it in this list. It is no longer available because it was a limited edition, but I use it pretty regularly so I wanted to add it in. This palette is so versatile, as I’ve used it for simple looks for work and dramatic looks for a night out. Initially I was sold on the packaging of the palette, but I was a little disappointed to see other vloggers and bloggers saying they didn’t think it was worth the money. I bit it and bought it, and have found so many beautiful looks from it. My favorite shadow, My Castle, is a beautiful gold that blends beautifully into the eye. I think it was so worth the money because the shadows are so smooth and blendable!

NYX HD Eyeshadow Primer

From my This or That earlier this year, the NYX primer won out! I’ve been using it ever since, and I’ve even repurchased this product. It’s become so staple to my makeup routine. I need that primer to keep my shadow in place in Arizona heat! It works well for any shadow look, and makes shimmer shadows more brilliant! I’ve found it works especially well for shadows that aren’t the most pigmented, because it gives them a base to stick to. Definitely will be purchasing again in the new year!

Makeup Revolution Skin Kiss Highlighter in Golden Kiss

One of my favorite highlighters! This is a favorite from my August Favorites, and still is now! It has the perfect highlight for someone looking for something pretty natural. It’s also buildable to a blinding level, if that’s more your style. It wears well, the color payoff is good, and the tone is good. It’s also pretty blendable!

Essie Nail Laquer in Ring in the Bling

This one slid right in at the end of 2017. I bought it for some holiday nails, and I have to say the formula is really great. It’s a little bit metallic with a smooth finish. Penny Talk is one of my favorite Essie polishes, and I expected this one to have a matte finish like that one. It does not, and I think it helps keep the color rich. It also has a gold reflux to it which made it super pretty for the holidays!

Bumble and Bumble Surf Foam Spray

A favorite from my June Favorites, this hair product actually works really well for me! I’m not huge on putting a lot of product in my hair, mostly because it causes it to look dirty very quickly. This was a recommendation from my hair dresser, after she used it to work with my natural curls. It helps bring out my natural curl when dried with a diffuser, and creates an effortless beachy wave for the summer. Definitely a favorite in helping me style my natural hair texture!

BH Cosmetics Metal Rose 11 Piece Brush Set

It was time for my brush set to get an update this year! I went with this set from BH Cosmetics because I had read they were high quality. These are synthetic brushes, and they’re so plush on the face. This set was in my August favorites. I use almost all the brushes pretty regularly, and they also wash well too!

That’s all I have for this wrap on this year’s beauty products! Cheers to a new year filled with new trends and products to try!
