Just a girl, her blog and the adventures that go on

September Favorites

September Favorites

This month ignited the warm fires and crisp air that reminds why it’s okay to say goodbye to summer.

I’m a sweater and boots kind of girl, and autumn color palettes are so my thing. Luckily, September brought just that with fall vibes, pumpkin spice everything, and just wanting to curl up with a blanket.

L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara

I know what you’re thinking. “Leah, you just reviewed the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara last month.”

I know. I like that mascara too. Let me explain why I like both. First of all, the Lash Paradise Mascara has gotten so many good reviews from beauty gurus, I knew I had to try it. Second, every time I went to Target or the drugstore, the Lash Paradise display was wiped clean.

I finally got my hands on it at Target this month. Personally, the Lash Sensational mascara is very dramatic, and for simpler looks it was very harsh. I like it when I wear a full face, but for a light makeup day it looked off. The Lash Paradise mascara is buildable, which I like, and keeps lashes soft while providing length and volume. With one swipe I’ve already got good lashes, with two swipes it almost looks like I’m wearing falsies.

This is a seriously good mascara. It has a more bristly brush, which I typically don’t like because it clumps my lashes. This one doesn’t. (Also the component isn’t some huge, oddly shaped container. Good for you L’Oreal.)

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Foundation in shade 1.5

This month I had to replenish my foundation. I don’t think I’ve ever talked about the kind of foundation I use on here before, and now is as good a time as any. I’ve been using the Naked foundation since it first hit shelves around 2013 I believe? I know I started using it in high school and it’s worked so I’ve never really tried anything else. Also I get the product to last me quite a long time, so I think it’s well worth the money.

This month I was at a crossroad of having the opportunity to try a new foundation when I needed a new one. I was feeling inspired by all the beauty products that have come out recently, and just wondered if this was the best foundation for me.

At Ulta I tried quite a few. I was even color matched for a Becca foundation, and I honestly just was not impressed at all. I ended up going back to my good old Urban Decay. It’s that good.

It gives a natural finish and is light on the skin throughout the day. It also has many shades to accomodate my impossible to match fair skin.

Too Faced I Want Kandee Eyeshadow Palette

Both this one and the next one I am going to talk about in more detail with swatches.

In my recent palette addiction, this is the most recent addition. It’s the palette collab between Kandee Johnson and Too Faced. Kandee is honestly on fire this year. From a nail collection in the earlier part of the year (in collaboration with Sinful Colors) to a Too Faced collaboration to a hair care collaboration later this year.

This palette blends so smoothly, it honestly upsets me with the quality of some of my other shadows. They’re so soft and blend with each other so easily. I like the color story with the palette, and how she designed them to almost be three quad looks. The lightest shade as an inner corner highlight, or even cheek highlight.

I know this was on the anti-haul lists of many beauty gurus, but honestly, it was different enough to be unlike anything else I have. Besides the cute packaging, I think it’s a very versatile palette. (To be fair I heard many comparisons to the chocolate palettes, which I don’t have any of that collection. So this color story was pretty new to me.)

Too Faced Melted Matte Lipstick in Freshly Baked

This is absolutely my favorite mauve lip color. I was so excited when Kandee revealed it in her video before the launch.

Prior to this purchase, I did not have any of the melted matte lipsticks, so the formula was new to me. I did like the way it applied and dried down.

It was a little more dry than the Tarte Tartiste Lip Paints, but it also dried down completely. It’s just the type of formula you really have to hydrate your lips before you apply.

I also really like the color on my complexion and think it works very well.

Just a couple favorites of mine this month! I’ll have a post with more on the Kandee Johnson x Too Faced collab in a bit! xo
