July marks the official middle of the year, and with it some of my favorites for keeping a look together in the summer heat.
I’ve compiled a list of my favorites from skincare to fashion for the month!
**Note: All of these items were purchased with my money, and all opinions are my own.
The Body Shop – Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mattifying Toner
I love this line of skincare. It’s made of natural ingredients and everything Th Body Shop produces is cruelty free. It’s also fairly affordable for an acne treatment product. In my experience with drugstore acne treatments, they generally are not strong enough for people with bad break outs. This product is available at Ulta and The Body Shop stores, so it’s pretty easy to access and is affordable. This toner is great to use after I clean my face to remove any additional oils on my face. I love the way it leaves my skin, and it has helped heal my skin texture. You can find it at Ulta or The Body Shop for $15. It comes in a big bottle, and is only meant to be used in small amounts, so it lasts a long time.
Maybelline – Baby Lips Color Balm Crayon
I found this lip crayon after falling in love with the Baby Lips lip balms. I wanted a product with some color for casual wear. When I’m dressed more casually, I want a little color in my lips, but I also don’t want to look over dressed with a lipstick.
This lip crayon is great because it applies smoothly and is hydrating like a lip balm. I normally might wear a lipgloss for a casual look, but I hate how sticky glosses can be. This goes on like chapstick and wears really well. You can find it anywhere that sells Maybelline products for $6.
Maybelline – Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner
I recently tried this when I was looking for an alternative to my current liquid liner. I’ve been using the same liquid liner since I was in high school, but this one has been getting good reviews lately. I had tried a pen style liquid liner way back when I was first trying liner, and for some reason didn’t like the application.
I know many people love Kat Von D’s liners and this one is even compared as a dupe, so I decided to try it out. It makes very precise lines and the liner is very pigmented. I believe it comes in black, brownish black and brown. I just always get black, so that was what I looked for. My only downside to this is it is not waterproof like my other liner, so it is prone to smudging in heat if it isn’t set. You can find this wherever Maybelline products are sold for $7.
Makeup Revolution – New-trals vs Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette
I bought this palette on a whim, and I am absolutely in love with it. I had never considered purchasing the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette or the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette. After seeing a couple beauty gurus doing looks with it, I kind of wanted to play with some peach and magenta tones.
Here on the top row of the palette are more of the peach and magenta tone colors. From left to right are Bias, Neutral, Personal, Vogue, Trend, New-Tral, Tone and Custom.
Here on the bottom row are some of the more natural colors in the palette. From left to right Cool, Style, Partial, Mode, Adapt, Buff, Suit and Strong. (I’m so sorry if some of the lighter tones don’t show well on my arm. It’s not that they’re not pigmented, it’s just that my inner forearm is pale and nearly matches the tone.)
I saw YouTube Beauty Guru Sophie from sophdoesnails compare this palette to the Modern Renaissance palette. I had barely considered it, but I knew for $12 I could totally try it. I’ve been in love with it ever since, it allows for so many versatile looks. I have quite a few palettes from Urban Decay to Tarte and this one has been my favorite the last coupe weeks. I think warm looks are really in right now with the popularity of the Modern Renaissance palette and the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette. This one can definitely do those looks and is affordable. You can find this at Ulta or on the Makeup Revolution website for $12.
NYX – Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray
I tested this makeup setting spray a couple weeks ago in my post about testing this and the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. I really was skeptical about how this product would work. Coming from the world of dance, I saw girls spray their makeup with hairspray (I 100% do not recommend, it’s terrible for your skin!).
This product kept my makeup up in summer heat, which I definitely am a fan of. I really like this setting spray and will definitely be using in Arizona heat! I know it will work well especially when I go back to school and walk about 75% of the places I have to go. You can find this wherever NYX products are sold for $8.
LC by Lauren Conrad – Lotus Flower Peace Necklace
I really love dainty necklaces like this one. I love Lauren Conrad’s style and her clothing and jewelry lines are always so cute. This necklace came on a card that said ‘Peace’ on it. I think the small lotus flower is so cute, and it rests right on the collar. It has gotten a little discolored from wear, but not noticeably. You can find it at Kohl’s for $14.
Mossimo Supply Co. – Racer Back Tank Top
I haven’t done clothes for a favorites before, but these tops have been a lifesaver in summer heat. I’m a fan of many of Mossimo’s other tank tops during the rest of the year, and for some reason hadn’t picked up any of these tanks. They’re very basic but are very cool and look cute in the summer. I really like them because they’re light, but not so sheer you can see through them. They’re also really cute wardrobe essentials that I can’t wait to mix up with outfits in the fall. You can find them at Target stores for $8 (and if you’re lucky there might be a 3 for $20 sale!).
These have all been my favorite items I’ve collected through the month! Come back next month to see what will make the list in August!
