The Liebster Award Tag
I was tagged by the wonderful Ashleigh of xashleighwrites.wordpress.com on Twitter for the Liebster Award Tag. She’s got a wonderful blog you should definitely check out!
Basically, the Liebster Award Tag works is I’ll answer the 11 questions Ashleigh wrote on her post, and then write 11 of my own and tag 11 bloggers. I think this is a super fun way for not only readers and bloggers to get to know other bloggers, but also to discover other awesome blogs!
Who or what influenced you to start blogging?
As a media student, I always had thought of running my own blog or website. In many of the classes I take at my university level, we work with photography, writing, social media and creating content for websites, so it’s an opportunity for application of everything I’ve learned so far at the university level. Also a handful of my friends in my program have started their own sites of different kinds and I thought it would be fun to have my own!
Describe yourself in three words.
Caring, charismatic and creative.
What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
I think I’d say getting to write about things I want to share with other people. For instance, if I have a beauty product I really like, I can share it with other people. It’s a way of connecting with people over topics that geographically close friends might not share interest in, but people who blog about the same types of things might.
What’s one thing that you dislike about blogging?
I think what I dislike is there are times I have no idea what to write. Then I’ll ask myself do I really want to write something for the sake of just writing a post, or do I actually have something I want to share? Then other times I’ll have four ideas all at once and I have to write them down so I don’t forget them while I’m in the process of writing the posts.
What’s one thing that you would like to achieve from blogging?
I’d say reaching out to people and knowing that the posts I’m writing are helpful to someone. If I can help one person with each post, I’d call that an achievement.
What’s one thing that you’re the most grateful for?
What’s the last book you read?
I think it was Tina Fey’s Bossypants. Highly recommend!!
What are you currently reading? If you’re not currently reading anything, what book would you like to read next?
I’ve been reading To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han for quite some time now. I’ll have a spare moment at school and be able to fit in a chapter and then I’ll go months without reading. This summer, I will finish it! (Especially since she just came out with a new one that follows P.S. I Still Love You.)
What’s your all time favourite beauty/skin care product?
Purity Made Simple Cleansing Gel by Philosophy. This is one of the only facial cleansers I’ve used that cuts down through makeup and just all the gross sweat and oil on my face from the day. It also works great for people with sensitive skin! (Like me!)
You can find it at Ulta for $23, here!
Name three things that make you happy.
My friends, traveling and writing.
What’s your best advice for new bloggers?
Don’t stress yourself out to the point you want to give up. When I first started looking into how do I even do this, all these advice posts said to write what you feel, or think about your blog like a business. Both are very true, and it totally depends on what you want to achieve with your blog. It can be overwhelming to write content, post on Facebook, Tweet, Instagram, Pinterest… you get the point. I started juggling several platforms at once because I already knew I could handle them as a media student.
I would say definitely build up into it, especially if you have another job or you’re not sure how it will go. The truth is, if you get overwhelmed, you’re going to want to just say forget it. It should be first and foremost something for you to do because you enjoy it.
Thanks Ashleigh, this was really fun!
