A dose of vitamin sea
Who doesn’t love a little sea and sun?
I took a little day trip down to Newport Beach with my parents to catch a cool breeze on a hot day. It was so crazy to think it had been about a year since I had been to the beach, and so of course I snapped some photos to catch all that beautiful blue.
On a quick break back home to California, I tried to pack in as much as I possibly could. It’s so weird to think that I’m often a tourist in my own home state.
Going to school in a different state has its challenges, one of them being I can’t hop in the car and get a good change of scenery like the beach. I try to make use of the time I have, to see the corners of the state I know I’ll always love.
Hitting the beach mid morning means it’s already hopping with beach goers. After a walk along the shore and on the pier, it was nice to sit down for some lunch.
We came upon the Rockin’ Baja Lobster Coastal Cantina, and had a lunch with a little extra flair. Small beachside restaurants are always a favorite of mine. This one hit the exact spot after a walk on the beach. An awesome array of salsas and chips was the perfect way to start a baja meal. I then had a flavorful bowl dish with rice, beans and shrimp, topped with avocado, lettuce, and a little pico de gallo. A flavorful dish that perfectly compliments the seafood they serve.
Our day was not over yet.
On our drive back home, we stopped at the Irvine Spectrum Center to take a stroll.
The shopping center is massive, and although the ferris wheel in the middle of the center should have been an indication, I had no idea how large it was only having seen it from the freeway. Wandering through the ‘streets’ of this outdoor marketplace was a perfect way to spend the afternoon.
We came across the adorable Hello Kitty Café, and took in some window shopping in the afternoon.
I absolutely love going out into various areas of the Greater Los Angeles area, but traffic is always just a pain. After a trip home that took longer than going out to the beach, we arrived back home.
It was nice to get out to a couple places I had never been before and try new things. Luckily, it was the perfect opportunity to test out my instax camera, which I only purchased about a month ago.
